Tuxedos are definitely not limited to professional and trendy men. While it is true that such clothes were originally created and designed for men, a large number of these professional looking clothes are now designed and manufactured for women. In fact, a lot of female personalities from within and outside the Hollywood spotlight now invest on tuxedos as part of their wardrobe. A few of those women who wear such unique apparels are Jennifer Lopez, Katie Holmes and Cameron Diaz.
Tuxedo wear is the perfect solution for events that require formal clothes. This type of clothing gives women an aura that is far different from what casual attires and women's dresses offer. No wonder, an increasing number of women now put them on for special occasions. While a tux enhances a man's masculinity, a tuxedo tailored for a woman enhances her femininity.
Women's tuxedos vary in colors and designs and are practically manufactured for various settings. Colored tuxedos, for example, are fit for occasions such as proms and costume parties where invited guests are expected to be in creative wear. But colored tuxedos are certainly not perfect for black bow tie events where guests and participants are required to be in their classic and elegant wear.
In any case, women's tuxedos are practically the same as those that are designed for men. These too include matching a matching jacket with inside pockets, a pair of elegant pants, a shirt, and a vest. Women, however, would rather not use ties or a vest because these accessories emanate a masculine effect. At any rate, here are some DOs and DON'Ts for women who wish to be in tux:
1. Do not be afraid to invest in classic tuxedos. These products are practically for all kinds of occasions and events that require formal dress codes.
2. Shop for tuxedos at least a week or two before you would actually wear them. Allow enough time to look around for various styles and designs. As much as possible, do not immediately buy any without trying them on first or you would risk not getting the style and size that you want and need.
3. Do not compromise your style. While it is true that tuxedos limit women's chances of showing off their creativity and style, it should still be remembered that tuxedos can actually make or break a person who is wearing one. Look at your tuxedo wear as a statement of elegance so make sure you keep it sophisticated with subtle and simple accessories.
4. Match your tux with a pair of formal shoes. As much as possible, use shoes that matches the color of your suit.
5. Also be careful in choosing the kind of accessories to use especially when you are heading to a black bow tie event where you can't actually go beyond classic designs and add-ons. Otherwise you run the risk of creating a fashion faux pas.
