Fashion is a vast subject that has various dos and don'ts. The rules and norms that must be observed are usually very vast and oftentimes too numerous to keep up with. Or how many people can stay in touch with the new rules that keep being introduced. The fact that fashion is a constantly evolving entity also does little to help with keeping up. As such, in order to keep one's sanity, only a guideline of sorts is necessary-at least for normal everyday folks. One of the events that guidelines become necessary for is parties and party dresses.
There's hardly any individual that doesn't want the approval and admiration of others (except antisocial or sadistic people). With this in mind, it is important to select party dresses appropriately in order to gain acceptance of other party goers. Without further ado, what are the guidelines that should be followed in selecting appropriate party dresses?
The first step in turning out gorgeous for any party is to know what kind of setting the event is. This will help you determine and select the most suitable party dress for the particular occasion. There are basically three categories that all types of parties fall under and they are formal, semi formal and informal. There are variations in the terminologies from place to place but these three subdivisions describe them all. Correspondingly, the dresses for these three categories also differ greatly.
Formal party dresses are for events labeled as black tie or white tie. There are other variations in the nomenclature of these events. For example, some formal events are referred to as white or black tie optional, creative white tie, etc. For these events, the appropriate party dresses are suits or tuxedos with tie (usually) for men and for women, cocktail dresses, long dresses, business/ dressy suits or evening gowns are suitable.
For semi formal events, the appropriate party attires are less formal and as such, long dresses are usually excluded for women, but of course the dresses shouldn't be too short or casual. Knee length or just below knee length dresses are okay. For men, a suit (no tux) without tie is acceptable. Casual events mean that any attire goes as long as it is fashionable. However, dressy casual events require "dressier" pieces.
So whatever the event you are going for, always ensure that the party dresses are suitable and present you in the best possible light.
