Amanda Seyfried tried to be a little fashion forward at the Los Angeles premiere of "Mother and Child" Monday night, but unfortunately, it didn't click with the critics. The 24-year-old "Mamma Mia!" star wore her dress backward, much to the dismay of those who saw it.
Seyfried wore her two-faced Bodyamr frock back side in front, with the purple zippered face in front and gray print side at the back.
Her bold move got the whole blogosphere talking, particularly the critics. Red Carpet Fashion Award especially took offense to where the dress' zipper awkwardly ends.
It wrote: "This is smacking me right in the face that it's the wrong way around, especially considering where the zipper stops."
"We ask for celebs to be more inventive on the red carpet, but this isn't what I had in mind." For New York magazine's The Cut, wearing a dress backward "isn't crazy or inventive - it's just awkward. If stars really want to get wild, they should turn things upside down and put their legs through the arm holes."
Seyfried wasn't the only celeb who tried being inventive. Angelina Jolie wore her Max Azria spring 2009 gown also backward to the 2009 SAG Awards, but the difference is that she garnered praises for her effort.
Celine Dion also wore her John Galliano for Dior white suit back-to-front at the Academy Awards in '99.
