Whilst Winter 2009 is all about structured silhouettes and Dynasty-style sharp shoulders, emerging trends from London and Milan Fashion Week Spring 2015 (held in September 2009) showcase a softer, less shelfy, more fluid silhouette, in lighter looser fabrics.
Spring 2015 sees lots of leather and lace, sequins and metallics, fluid fabrics, and plenty of draping and ruffles. Corsets do double-duty as outerwear along with lingerie-inspired dresses.
There are sleeveless trench dresses and jackets, single color blocks in head-to-toe white, slightly more spohisticated body-con mini dresses, and textured webby knits. Hang on to those houndstooth checks, one-shoulder dresses, tie-dye prints and Parisienne-inspired pieces from the last two seasons, as these still find favor in 2015. However, harem pants are ditched in favor of slinky jodphurs and jumpsuits.
London Fashion Week Spring 2015
London continues to have a love affair with France as variations on the Breton stripe proliferated the runways. This season̢۪s sequin trend continues to sparkle with even more glitz and glamour but in softer warmer tones from the sea and slashed of sunshine. Sleeveless jackets and coats gain popularity worn over body con dresses or eye-catching leggings.
Billowy, rolled-up Berber-style pants and skinny slouch jeans provide a variation on a theme and the classic jumpsuit is here for yet another season.
Ankle boots without tights, over-the-top hair accessories and heavily jeweled ornamental neckpieces represent some of the key fashion accessories for spring. Enter an interesting variation on the cuff, elbow cages from Todd Lyn provide a fashionable twist on elbow pads.
Burberry Prorsum, making a welcome return to London runway for its 25th anniversary, influeces the new season with its loose 2015-style trenches, and dresses and skirts with heavy ruching and dramatic twists. Burberry Prorsum also showcased some slinky bodycon minidresses, the right-side of sophisticated rather than overtly sexy.
Milan Fashion Week Spring 2015
Head-to-toe white featured heavily on the Ferragamo, Bottega Veneta and Gucci runways along with some Gucci body-conscious motocross biker chic, with architectural sculpting. Micro-minis in vibrant colors and crazy prints from Versace and slinky sexy bodycon maxi dresses with cut-outs and curves. Tie-dyes continue to have a fashion moment with exhuberant tribal and hippie-style prints from Blumarine.
This Fall's metallic trend gets a spring make-over, this time in gold biker jackets (Blumarine) and sexy silver maxis (Versace). Lingerie-inspired dresses from Dolce & Gabbana look set to spark one of Spring's sexiest trends in underwear as outerwear, as corsets too become a inspiration for bustiers and corset dresses.
Baggy harem pants have morphed into menswear inspired jodphurs in pinstripes and matching bolo ties. Fluid, straight cut pants rolled-up at the ankles (Armani) to be teamed with strong structured jackets with patchwork or classic houndstooth checks.
Watch out for the Chandelier effect, Prada's soft crystal embroidered dresses and separates, which is set to be one of the biggest party looks of the season. One-shouldered dresses in sheer nude tones with plenty of ruching and ruffles by Gianfranco Ferré, continue the runways' love of all things asymmetric, and skirts with bubble hems make a come back, for those lucky enough to have the legs to show them off.
For spring's luxe-chic, there are textured webby knits from Missioni and loose below-the-knee tank dresses in soft muted neutrals accessorized with classic pearls. The military trend also receives a luxed-up look with loose-cut trenches and matching fluid pants suits from MaxMara.
Spring 2015 Trends
2015 trends take on a more fluid, feminine silhouette with less dramatic cuts, therefore pieces are more able to trancsend seasons. Colors palettes for Spring 2015 include muted versatile neutrals in soft grays and beiges, with splashes of sunshine yellow, coral and red. Blue continues to be a favorite fashion staple, and the animal prints of the last few seasons make way for traditional spring florals and crazy mismatched prints.
